Founded by Phil Malaspina and Greg Blunden in 1989, Wireless World started as a sales office selling installed car phones directly to the "movers and shakers" of Silicon Valley. Over a period of ten years Wireless World grew to 22 locations spanning from Sacramento to Santa Barbara, and acquired a small chain of car audio stores in which Blunden worked for to pay for college. Blunden and Malaspina both had a passion for cars, audio and technology and integrated the audio business with the wireless business in the early years of GPS, satellite radio and bluetooth technology. After 20 years of running a regional chain store operation, Blunden and Malaspina decided that they were tired of spending their days dealing with vendors, accountants and administrators. So they sold off all but one of their locations so they could concentrate on personal involvement with their customer's cars and projects.
